Member-At-Large Thomas Withrow
Thomas E. Withrow, Jr. entered this world by the way of
Dallas, Texas (hence, being an avid Dallas Cowboys fan). He and his family
moved to Maryland and attended Maryland School for the Deaf in Frederieck.
He went to Gallaudet College (now University) after graduation and majored
in P.E. He completed his Masters degree in Deaf Education at Western
Maryland College (now known as McDaniel College). Thomas teaches ASL I and
II at Montgomery County Public Schools for 13th year. He helped develop
basic ASL curriculum for MCPS as a Foreign Language program. For leisure
time, he enjoys Christmas decoration, fantasy football, collecting Deaf
arts and pins and gardening. Thomas has been involved with track and field
since MSD days as an athlete, coordinator, throwing coach and head coach
in various levels including international competition and Deaflympics. He
has been part of the USA team since 1981. He coached a number of NCAA III
All Americans as well as Deaflympic medalists. He also coached high school
football teams. He was President of USA Deaf Track and Field and was
honored with the USADSF Art Kruger's Award. He is no longer coaching as he
is spending time with his family, especially two toddlers, Skyler (2 1/4
yrs old) and Anastasia (1 yr old). His beloved wife of 3 years, Heather
stays home tending to their two kids. They reside in Glenn Dale,
Maryland. |
